Have You Heard???

Thanks everyone for the very nice and understanding comments!  I promise to get better about blogging and showing some of my many projects in progress.  I'm hoping to get a handle on those projects soon......I seem to have way too many of them right now!!!

Part of the reason that I have not been posting (aside from all of the other things I have been doing) is that Madeline and I are putting together a Yarn Shop Hop!!! 

What is a Yarn Shop Hop????  Well, glad that you have asked!  Basically, over a 4-day period, you visit all the participating stores on the Shop Hop list.  The first store that you visit will give you a passport.  This passport needs to be stamped by every store that you vist.  At the last store on your quest, you will hand in your passport.  Each person that hands in a completed passport will be entered into a drawing for: Grand Prize-basket worth $500 in knitting supplies/yarn or 1st Prize-a basket worth $250 in knitting supplies/yarn.  Pretty nifty, huh? 

What is really exciting is that 12 stores are participating!  We only had one store say no!  I was really surprised to see that there are 12 stores in the greater Sacramento area!  We are including everywhere from Grass Valley to Elk Grove, from Placerville to Davis!  Pretty good sized area.  Will be fun for everyone.

So, what does putting together all of this entail????  Well, Madeline contacted all the stores that we knew of and a few more that were suggested by others.  Once we got to twelve stores, we figured that would be enough for now.  Since we are sponsoring this event, we are putting together the passports and flyers for everyone.  I even set up a small page from the store website.  You can see it here.  As you can imagine, this has kept us very busy. 

We are very excited about this.  We have had several people tell us that they are really looking forward to seeing all of the different stores.  I really hope that this will be successful.  This will allow us to do this again next year and hopefully have even more stores participating.  Let me know what you think about this idea!  Leave a comment or email me!

yea, i heard about the yarn shop hop through the In Sheep's Clothing newsletter (although they didn't give many details on it) - but what a terrific idea!!! glad that you and madeleine thought of it.. a great way to pull together the local fiber community and all the LYS here. i can't imagine a yarn store not wanting to participate, but this is great for the yarn store AND the yarn consumer =)
