Hello all! No, I have not dropped off the face of the earth! After many people saying to me, "Wow, you haven't updated your blog in ages!" I decided it was time to get back to doing this. Not that blogging is a chore, not at all. It just isn't at the top of my priority list! So here is a synopsis of my life for the past 6+ months:
September-Post Birthday
Working an outside job and having the store has been keeping me very busy! Have made many new friends at the store, that has been great. Having some growing pains at the store (managing the personnel and doing the paperwork is not a fun job!!)
October
Big changes at the store! I am not working an outside job anymore (yay!) and am at the store full time, actually all the time! We have been getting in more and more stock every day. The store is really getting full! Seems like I am having to buy more and more fixtures. Will definitely have to visit Ikea when they open in Spring '06. I now have another full time person in the store, Madeline. She has been a godsend! Also, Cindy has pitched in and is teaching classes and working part time too!! There is so much to catch up on since I wasn't here full time when the store opened. Fortunately, John's business had been very busy, so we can eat :)
November
Wow! Business has really picked up! We are being discovered by more and more people every day. I am still trying to catch up on everything still get all of the day to day things completed. I have so little time to knit, but it has been so much fun meeting new knitters.
The kids are finally done with their extra curricular activities. Johnny did really well playing football this year. He lead the league in sacks and made Second Team All League and First Team All Area for defense. Not bad as a sophomore playing varsity football! Tori's cheer team placed 2nd in their division at the cheer competition. I think she is suffering from some burn out, but she is very pleased with her team.
December
We have been extremely busy! Our First Annual Open House was this month and was a great success. We had a fun night of knitting, eating, and talking. DH even came out and helped for a while. Madeline's idea was perfect. It was a great way to celebrate the season with friends.
I also started up a newsletter for the shop. This has been fun to do and quite interesting too. If you would like to sign up, I will be adding a sign up button to my blog.
January
Talk about a busy month! After all of the craziness of the holidays is over, now we have all these new people coming into the store! This is great. We have started up lots of knit a longs in the shop and people seem to really enjoy them. I'll have to post some of the pictures later.
February
Went to Stitches! Need I say more??? Madeline and I took the train to Santa Clara. That was sooo much fun. A very exhausting day. We met up with Lew and the Lacy Knitter's Guild. That was lots of fun. Got to meet Gene Beugler. He was tatting away. That would be something fun to learn...
March
Where is Spring? All that we have been seeing is rain! If I ever finish my Bristow cardigan, I can actually wear it before next year. The shop is doing great. I keep expecting things to slow down, but we keep getting in new customers and our regulars are still shopping. I am so glad that people like the shop.
April
OK, I am sort of up to date. Yes there is more to tell. I talked to Cher last night and she has started a blog herself! Please check out Knit Vicious. I am sure that her blog will be very entertaining.
